● IF IT IS EXPIRING SOON

Before a domain lapses

  1. 01Renew it now rather than waiting for the auto-renew: a card that expired since last year is the usual reason auto-renew fails silently.
  2. 02Check the registrar account the domain is actually under, not the one you think it is. Domains drift between accounts after team changes and acquisitions.
  3. 03Turn on registrar lock (clientTransferProhibited) and two-factor on the account, so an expiring domain cannot also be quietly moved.
● HOW IT WORKS

How this checker works

We ask the authoritative registry for the domain over RDAP, the structured successor to WHOIS, and read the registration expiry, the creation date and the registrar it reports. The lookup happens on our side, so there is nothing to install, and we do not store the domains you check here unless you add them to monitoring. A few TLDs do not publish expiry; when that happens we say so rather than guess.

Common questions

What is the difference between domain expiry and SSL certificate expiry?

They are separate. Domain expiry is when your registration of the name lapses and you lose the domain itself; SSL expiry is when the HTTPS certificate for the site runs out. This tool reads the domain registration from the registry. NoDisrupt monitors both.

Where does the expiry date come from?

From the registry over RDAP, the modern replacement for WHOIS. We ask the authoritative registry for the domain and read the registration expiry it publishes. Some registries rate-limit or redact dates, and a few TLDs do not publish expiry at all.

Why can some domains not be checked?

A handful of TLDs (including some country-code domains) do not publish an expiry date over RDAP or WHOIS, and private or reserved names return nothing. When that happens we say so rather than guess.

Does auto-renew mean I am safe?

Not always. Auto-renew still fails if the card on file expires, the registrar account lapses, or the renewal bounces. The date is the fact; the alert is the safety net.

How do I get warned before a domain expires?

Monitor it. NoDisrupt's free plan watches up to 10 domains, checks the registry every day, and alerts you well before expiry, alongside uptime and SSL monitoring.
